Retort Clamps are adjustable laboratory supports used to hold compatible glassware and apparatus securely on retort stands during experiments, heating, filtration, titration, distillation, and general chemistry work. Their purpose is to keep equipment at the required height and angle while leaving the user’s hands free to manage the experiment safely.
The clamp attaches to a compatible stand or support rod through an adjustable fixing assembly. Its jaws can be opened and tightened around laboratory items such as test tubes, burettes, condensers, flask necks, thermometers, and other suitable apparatus. Correct positioning helps prevent glassware from slipping, rotating, or placing excessive strain on connected joints.
Protective jaw ends help improve grip while reducing direct metal contact with glassware. The clamp should be tightened only enough to hold the item securely, as excessive pressure can damage thin glass, ground joints, or delicate laboratory components. Larger or heavier assemblies may require more than one clamp to distribute the load correctly.
Retort clamps are widely used in school science laboratories, university chemistry departments, research laboratories, preparation rooms, and industrial testing areas.
