Hotplates provide controlled bench-top heating for compatible laboratory beakers, flasks and sample vessels. This range includes LCD and LED digital models with glass-ceramic or ceramic-coated aluminium heating plates in 4-inch, 6-inch, 7-inch and 10-inch formats.

The glass-ceramic models offer stated maximum temperatures of up to 500°C or 550°C, depending on the selected size. The 6-inch ceramic-coated aluminium models provide heating up to 380°C. Package options are also available with a temperature sensor and support clamp for compatible temperature-controlled work.

The correct hotplate should be selected according to vessel size, sample volume, required temperature and plate material. The vessel should sit securely on the heating surface, and users should avoid heating sealed containers or using flammable materials near hot equipment.

IEC 61010-1 provides general safety requirements for electrical laboratory equipment, while IEC 61010-2-010 applies specifically to laboratory equipment used for heating materials. ASTM E220 is relevant where thermocouples are used to check temperature performance, and ISO/IEC 17025 applies to competent testing and calibration laboratories. These standards should only be presented as confirmed product compliance where supporting manufacturer documentation is available.
