Description
The Hematocrit Centrifuge, also known as a microhaematocrit centrifuge, is designed for high-speed centrifugation of compatible capillary tubes in haematology, clinical diagnostic, pathology, hospital, veterinary and medical teaching laboratories. It is supplied with the DAC24 rotor kit, which accommodates up to 24 capillary tubes for routine hematocrit and packed cell volume sample processing.
The centrifuge operates from 200 to 12,000 rpm in 10 rpm increments and delivers a maximum relative centrifugal force of 13,680 × g. Speed accuracy is specified at ±20 rpm, supporting consistent operation where controlled high-speed separation is required by the laboratory method.
The DAC24 rotor kit supports simultaneous processing of 24 capillary tube samples, making the unit suitable for clinical workflows where multiple small-volume blood samples need to be centrifuged in one run. The correct capillary tubes, sealing method and loading balance should be selected according to the validated hematocrit procedure.
Run time can be set from 30 seconds to 99 minutes, with continuous operation available for procedures requiring an unrestricted running period. Pulse operation and the short-time run function support quick-spin procedures, while the audible alert indicates completion of the centrifugation cycle.
The LCD display and intuitive menu allow independent control of speed and time. The speed and RCF switch function lets users select the operating parameter required by their laboratory protocol, helping support methods written in either rpm or relative centrifugal force.
The maintenance-free brushless DC motor supports repeated laboratory operation without routine motor-brush replacement. Acceleration and braking are both specified at approximately 30 seconds, supporting controlled movement to and from the selected operating speed.
Safety functions include door interlock, overspeed detection, over-temperature monitoring as specified in the supplied features, automatic internal diagnosis and automatic rotor identification. These systems support controlled centrifugation and help monitor the operating condition during routine laboratory use.
LabChoice Australia supplies this Hematocrit Centrifuge for haematology laboratories, clinical diagnostic laboratories, pathology laboratories, hospital laboratories, veterinary diagnostic laboratories, biomedical research facilities, medical schools and university teaching laboratories. It is suitable for high-speed capillary tube centrifugation, hematocrit testing, packed cell volume procedures and related small-volume blood sample preparation using the included DAC24 rotor kit and validated laboratory procedures. The unit measures 280 × 364 × 274 mm, weighs 10.5 kg and operates from either 100 to 120 V or 200 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz with a rated power of 160 W.
