Description
The High-Speed Refrigerated Centrifuge, also known as a refrigerated microcentrifuge, combines high centrifugal force with active temperature control for processing small-volume laboratory samples. Its five available rotor options support microcentrifuge tubes, 5 mL centrifuge tubes and PCR strip tubes, allowing one benchtop instrument to serve multiple research and sample-preparation workflows.
The centrifuge operates from 200 to 15,000 rpm in 100 rpm increments and develops a maximum relative centrifugal force of 21,380 × g. RCF can be adjusted in 10 × g steps, while the LCD allows users to monitor operating parameters and switch between rotational speed and relative centrifugal force according to the laboratory method.
Temperature can be set from −20°C to 40°C for procedures requiring controlled sample conditions during centrifugation. When the selected temperature is below ambient, the compressor automatically begins cooling. The pre-cooling function can reduce the chamber temperature from room temperature to 4°C in approximately seven minutes, helping prepare the centrifuge before temperature-sensitive samples are loaded.
Available rotor capacities include 24 × 1.5 or 2 mL tubes, 36 × 0.2 or 0.5 mL tubes, 4 × PCR 8-tube strips, 12 × 5 mL tubes and 18 × 5 mL tubes. The three-layer sealed rotor design supports secure centrifugation, while the compatible high-strength aluminium alloy rotor can be fully autoclaved at 121°C where sterilisation is required by the laboratory procedure.
Run times can be programmed from 30 seconds to 99 minutes, with HOLD mode available for continuous operation. Up to nine programs can be stored for frequently repeated methods. Nine selectable acceleration and deceleration levels allow users to adjust rotor response, including gentler low-speed braking where disturbance of separated sample layers should be minimised. Inching operation supports brief centrifugation, while the running-process indicator and audible alert provide clear cycle status.
The electronic magnetic door-locking system allows the lid to be closed using a light, one-handed action. Safety functions include dual door locking, rotor imbalance detection, overspeed detection, over-temperature detection and an internal diagnostic system. An external condensation tank helps prevent water from accumulating inside the centrifuge chamber during refrigerated operation.
LabChoice Australia supplies this High-Speed Refrigerated Centrifuge for molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, biotechnology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical research, clinical research, university and industrial laboratories. It can support temperature-controlled centrifugation of nucleic acid samples, proteins, cell lysates, PCR preparations and other small-volume biological or chemical samples where compatible rotors and validated laboratory protocols are used.
