Description
The Aluminium Siren Disc, 175 mm Diameter with 10/6 mm Stem, also known as a rotating sound siren disc, is designed for practical demonstrations of sound production, pitch and frequency in physics and general science teaching. The apparatus consists of an aluminium disc mounted on a central stem so that it can be rotated during demonstration. The disc diameter is listed as 175 mm, with supplier description referring to the disc as approximately 180 mm diameter. The disc includes 4 rows of holes around its surface. When a fine jet of air is blown through the rotating holes, interrupted air pulses are produced, creating a siren tone.
The hole counts are listed as 24, 30, 36 and 48. These counts follow a ratio of 4:5:6:8, allowing the combined sound from the 4 rows to demonstrate a natural musical chord. This siren disc is useful for teaching the relationship between rotation, air pulses, frequency, pitch and musical intervals in a clear classroom demonstration format. The product is suitable for school physics laboratories, science classrooms, STEM teaching spaces and university teaching laboratories requiring practical apparatus for sound and wave demonstrations.
Users should ensure the disc is mounted securely before rotation. Keep fingers, hair, loose clothing and other objects away from the rotating disc during use. Air should be applied carefully using a suitable fine jet or compatible blow tube according to the approved demonstration method. The blow tube is not included with this item unless specified separately. For the blow tube only, refer to LC-80-SW3770-001.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervision. This item is supplied as the aluminium siren disc with 10/6 mm stem only. Blow tube, air source, motor, drive system, stand, clamps and additional accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Aluminium Siren Discs for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, STEM education and general teaching environments requiring practical sound and frequency demonstration apparatus.
