Description
Air Condenser is designed for vapour condensation in reflux and distillation assemblies where ambient air cooling provides sufficient heat removal without the need for running water. It is commonly used for refluxing higher boiling solvents, drying reactions, and solvent return applications where water connections are inconvenient, unavailable, or undesirable. The extended cooling surface encourages vapours to condense and flow back into the reaction vessel, supporting stable reflux conditions and reduced solvent loss during longer runs.
Manufactured from high quality LabChoice BORO 3.3 borosilicate glass, the condenser offers excellent thermal stability, low thermal expansion, and strong chemical resistance to a wide range of laboratory reagents and solvents. BORO 3.3 performance aligns with recognised borosilicate glass standards such as ISO 3585 and ASTM E438 Type I, supporting reliable service through repeated heating and cooling cycles and daily laboratory handling. Smooth internal surfaces support efficient vapour flow and simplify cleaning, while precision ground joints provide secure, low leak integration into modular glassware systems when correctly assembled.
Air condensers are particularly useful in teaching laboratories and synthesis labs for reactions where water cooling can cause unnecessary complexity, hose management issues, or condensation related safety concerns. For more volatile, low boiling solvents or higher heat loads, a water cooled condenser may be preferred, however for many standard reflux applications, an air condenser provides a practical, low maintenance solution.
Supplied by LabChoice Australia, this air condenser is widely used across Australian schools, universities, research institutes, and industrial quality control environments where dependable reflux performance and robust BORO 3.3 construction are required.
