Description
The Free Fall Apparatus, Mechanical Release, 1 m, 3 Balls, also known as a mechanical release free fall experiment apparatus, is designed for physics teaching activities involving falling bodies, acceleration due to gravity and time of fall measurement. This IEC-style apparatus uses a 1 m vertical rail with an adjustable upper platform, allowing experiments to be performed at different falling distances. The apparatus includes 3 balls of different sizes and materials, supporting practical classroom comparison during approved free fall experiments. In this mechanical release system, the metallic ball creates the electrical connection for the start signal. The ball is held against the underside of the upper platform by gently pulling the strong cord, making contact with the start sockets.
When the pin is pulled, the ball falls and immediately starts the timer. The lower platform then senses the ball striking the plate and stops the timer. An electronic timer connects to the upper and lower platforms to record the start and stop signals during the free fall experiment. The no-timer model is supplied without timer and can be used with compatible timers such as LC-80-LB4057-001 LCD timer, LC-80-LB4064-101 red LED timer or other suitable IEC timing systems. The LCD timer model is supplied complete with the LC-80-LB4057-001 timer included, along with the required cables and plugs.
This apparatus is useful for lessons covering free fall, acceleration due to gravity, time measurement, motion under gravity, experimental error and distance-time relationships. Users should confirm the required version, timer compatibility, cable connection, platform setup and approved experiment method before ordering or use. The apparatus should be assembled on a stable bench or support surface. Keep hands, feet, glassware and other equipment clear of the falling ball path and lower impact platform during operation. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervision. This item is supplied as the selected 1 m mechanical release free fall apparatus kit only. Additional timers, stands, worksheets, replacement balls and extra accessories are not included unless specified separately.
