Description
The Newton’s Colour Disc, also known as a Newton disc for colour mixing demonstrations, is designed for school science and physics classrooms where students explore the relationship between visible colours and white light. The disc has a listed diameter of 23 cm and is mounted on a stand for practical classroom demonstration use. The hand-driven design allows users to rotate the disc during supervised optics activities.
The disc is painted with rainbow colour segments in the order violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. These colours represent the visible spectrum commonly observed in rainbow and prism demonstrations. When the disc is rotated, the separate colours visually blend and can appear closer to white. This provides a simple demonstration of additive colour mixing and supports discussion of Isaac Newton’s work on light and colour.
This apparatus is suitable for lessons on white light, colour composition, visible spectrum, colour blending, optics and introductory physics demonstrations. The hand-driven stand format makes the product useful for classroom front-bench demonstrations, student practical stations and general education laboratory activities. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only. It should be used under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervision, especially when students are rotating the disc.
This item is supplied as the hand-driven Newton’s colour disc on stand only. Light source, prism, screen and any additional optics accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Newton’s Colour Discs for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, optics teaching spaces and general education laboratories requiring practical apparatus for light and colour demonstrations.
