Description
The Electric Kinetic Theory Model, also known as a kinetic theory of gases apparatus, is designed to demonstrate the movement of molecules in a gas using a visible mechanical model. The apparatus uses a strong DC motor connected to a vibrating platform inside an acrylic tube with a scale. A set of 100 small stainless steel balls is loaded into the tube to represent gas particles in motion. As the motor speed is changed, the agitation of the balls changes inside the tube, helping students visualise how increased molecular motion can be used to represent heating of a gas.
A light polystyrene foam disc is placed in the tube and floats on the agitated balls at a certain height. A second heavier disc can be added or used as a replacement to demonstrate how different loading affects the floating height. This model helps show an approximate relationship between floating height, representing gas volume, and the weight of the discs, representing gas pressure. It supports classroom discussion of kinetic theory, molecular motion, gas behaviour and pressure-volume concepts. This product is suitable for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and physics classrooms requiring a practical visual demonstration of gas particle behaviour.
Users should confirm power supply requirements, motor control method, disc configuration, tube condition and syllabus suitability before use. Keep fingers, loose clothing and small objects clear of moving or vibrating parts during operation. Do not operate with damaged acrylic tube, exposed wiring or unsuitable power supply.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the electric kinetic theory model only. Power supply, external controller, worksheets, replacement balls, spare discs and additional physics accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Electric Kinetic Theory Models and physics teaching equipment for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical tools for gas law and molecular motion demonstrations.
