Description
The Thermal Conductivity Bars, also known as a metal conductivity bar apparatus or heat conduction demonstration plate, are designed for comparing the thermal conductivity of different metals. The apparatus includes copper, brass, aluminium and steel as listed, allowing students to observe how heat travels at different rates through different metal materials. To use, fill a compatible beaker with hot water at approximately 60°C or above, then dip the exposed end of the apparatus into the water and observe the colour-change response on each metal strip.
Each 1 cm blackish square is expected to become more transparent or brighter depending on how efficiently heat is conducted through the metal. This provides a clear classroom demonstration of thermal conductivity, heat transfer, material comparison and the practical behaviour of metals when exposed to heat. Users should confirm beaker size, hot water temperature, handling method, colour indicator condition and classroom demonstration procedure before use.
This experiment involves hot water and heated metal parts. Use suitable PPE, heat-resistant handling tools and approved teacher or laboratory supervision. Take necessary precautions when handling boiling water or water above 60°C. Avoid splashing, spills, burns and unstable beaker placement. Allow the apparatus to cool before handling, drying or storage. Do not expose the colour-change surface to direct flame or unsuitable chemicals unless approved.

Beaker, hot water, thermometer, heat source, tongs, PPE, worksheets and additional heat transfer accessories are not included unless specified separately.
