Description
The Free Fall Apparatus, Solenoid Release, 1 m and 1.5 m, also known as an IEC solenoid release free fall apparatus, is designed for physics teaching activities involving falling bodies, acceleration due to gravity and time of fall measurement. This apparatus uses a solenoid release system for the steel ball, allowing the ball to be released automatically when the compatible timer starts the experiment. The range is available in 1 m and 1.5 m vertical rail versions. The upper platform is adjustable along the vertical rail, allowing experiments to be performed at different falling distances. Each version is supplied with 2 steel balls of different sizes, supporting practical classroom comparison during approved free fall investigations.
An electronic timer is connected to the upper and lower platforms to obtain a signal when the ball begins to fall and another signal when the ball hits the lower platform. For this solenoid release model, the LC-80-LB4064-101 digital timer must be used, because this timer provides the power required to operate the solenoid release. When the timer start button is pressed, the solenoid releases the steel ball. The ball falls and stops the timer the instant it strikes the lower platform. The compatible timer display is listed as measuring time to 0.1 ms, supporting clear timing for classroom free fall experiments. The no-timer versions are supplied without timer, but include all connection cables and plugs required for compatible setup with LC-80-LB4064-101. The complete versions are supplied with LC-80-LB4064-101 timer included, along with all connection cables and plugs.
This apparatus is useful for lessons covering free fall, acceleration due to gravity, time measurement, motion under gravity, experimental error and distance-time relationships. Users should confirm the required rail length, timer inclusion, cable connection, platform setup and approved experiment method before ordering or use. The apparatus should be assembled on a stable bench or support surface. Keep hands, feet, glassware and other equipment clear of the falling ball path and lower impact platform during operation. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervision. This item is supplied as the selected solenoid release free fall apparatus kit only. Additional timers, stands, worksheets, replacement balls and extra accessories are not included unless specified separately.
