Description
The Rolling Cylinders, Metal and Plastic Pair, also known as a rolling cylinder demonstration set, is designed for physics experiments showing how mass distribution affects rolling motion. The traditional rolling cylinders are made from plastic and metal. Although the cylinders are identical in size and identical in total mass, they behave differently when rolled down a slope because their mass is distributed differently. This makes the apparatus useful for demonstrating rotational motion, rolling acceleration, inertia, centre of mass concepts and the effect of internal mass distribution on movement.
Students can compare the two cylinders as they roll down the same inclined surface, helping them observe that objects with the same size and mass may still move differently depending on how their mass is arranged. This product is suitable for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical equipment for mechanics and motion demonstrations. Users should confirm the slope angle, ramp surface, release method, rolling distance and comparison procedure before use. Because the cylinders are heavy and the plastic component may be damaged, care should be taken not to drop them onto the floor or strike them against hard surfaces.
During demonstrations, keep hands, feet and loose items clear of the rolling path, and use the cylinders only on a stable ramp or approved teaching surface. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the metal and plastic rolling cylinder pair only. Ramp, incline plane, timing equipment, photogates, stop blocks, worksheets and additional physics accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Rolling Cylinders and physics teaching equipment for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical tools for rotational motion and mass distribution demonstrations.
