Description
The Tensile Testing Machine for Strength of Materials, also known as a classroom tensile strength apparatus or wire extension testing machine, is designed for measuring and demonstrating the tensile behaviour of metal wires. The IEC tensile testing machine uses wire samples so that the forces involved remain suitable for classroom application, allowing students to investigate extension, tensile loading and material comparison in a controlled educational setup. An accurate dial indicator with a listed resolution of 0.01 mm is used to measure stretch or extension as load is applied to the wire.
Tensile force is applied using standard slotted weights, allowing students to observe the relationship between applied load and wire extension during strength of materials experiments. The machine provides 3 different anchor points, allowing wire samples to be tested at 3 effective lengths for comparison of extension and material behaviour. The apparatus is supplied with rolls of 0.037 mmD copper wire, 0.32 mmD brass wire and 0.28 mmD iron wire as listed.
The 9 × 50 g and / or 9 × 100 g slotted weight sets are not supplied with the machine and should be ordered separately if required for the experiment. Users should confirm wire diameter, supplied wire type, compatible slotted weight set, load range, dial indicator operation and classroom test procedure before use. Wire samples under tension can snap suddenly. Wear suitable eye protection, keep face and hands clear of the wire path and do not overload the apparatus beyond the approved classroom method.
Weights should be added and removed carefully to prevent dropping, sudden loading or damage to the apparatus. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the selected tensile testing machine with listed wire rolls only. Slotted weight sets, additional wires, safety screens, PPE, worksheets and additional strength of materials accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Tensile Testing Machines and strength of materials teaching apparatus for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical demonstrations of tensile force, extension and material behaviour.
