Description
The Low-Speed Multi-Rotor Centrifuge, also known as a clinical benchtop centrifuge, is designed for routine sample preparation in clinical diagnostic, pathology, hospital, medical research and laboratory teaching environments. Its compatibility with both swing-out and angle rotors allows laboratories to process several commonly used blood collection and centrifuge tube formats on one instrument.
The centrifuge operates from 500 to 4,000 rpm in adjustable 100 rpm increments and generates a maximum relative centrifugal force of 2,500 × g. Speed accuracy is specified at ±100 rpm. The LCD allows users to select and view operating parameters in either rpm or RCF, helping laboratories follow methods written using rotational speed or centrifugal force.
Available rotor configurations include a swing-out rotor for 6 × 15 mL tubes, a swing-out rotor for 4 × 50 mL tubes, an angle rotor for 24 × 15 mL tubes, an angle rotor for 12 × 10 mL tubes and an angle rotor for 8 × 15 mL tubes. The appropriate rotor should be selected according to the tube dimensions, sample volume and validated laboratory method.
Three routine programs support common clinical sample-processing workflows. The blood program operates at 3,200 rpm for 10 minutes, the urine program at 1,800 rpm for 5 minutes and the faecal program at 1,300 rpm for 10 minutes. These settings provide convenient starting parameters, but laboratories should confirm that each program is appropriate for their specimen type, tube manufacturer instructions and internal procedure.
Run time can be set from 1 to 99 minutes, with HOLD mode available for continuous operation. Three acceleration levels and four deceleration levels allow the starting and braking response to be adjusted according to the sample and separation requirements. Gentler deceleration can help reduce disturbance of separated layers or sediment at the end of a centrifugation cycle.
The maintenance-free brushless DC motor supports repeated routine use while maintaining a specified noise level of no more than 62 dB(A). Automatic internal diagnosis and self-detection functions monitor the instrument during operation. The centrifuge measures 364 × 440 × 268 mm, weighs 14.5 kg and operates from a single-phase 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz electrical supply.
LabChoice Australia supplies this Low-Speed Multi-Rotor Centrifuge for clinical diagnostic laboratories, pathology laboratories, hospital laboratories, blood collection centres, urinalysis laboratories, medical schools, university teaching laboratories and biomedical research facilities. It is suitable for routine processing of compatible blood, urine, faecal and general laboratory samples using the correct rotor, tube configuration and validated centrifugation procedure.
