Description
The Electrostatic Rods, also known as static electricity rods or friction charging rods, are designed for demonstrating electrostatic charge behaviour in physics and general science laboratories. These rods are used in electrostatic experiments where students observe charge generation, attraction, repulsion, charge induction and material-dependent triboelectric effects. Different rod materials show different charging behaviour when rubbed with compatible cloths or materials, making the set useful for comparing how acrylic, ebonite, glass and polythene respond during static electricity demonstrations.
The available material options include acrylic, ebonite, glass and polythene, with dimensions listed as 300 × 10 mm or 300 × 12 mm depending on the selected rod. Acrylic rods can be used for general static electricity demonstrations. Ebonite rods are useful as insulating rods that can be charged by friction. Glass rods are commonly used for charge induction and repulsion demonstrations. Polythene rods are suitable for triboelectric charging and static electricity experiments. These rods are suitable for use with compatible rubbing cloths, electroscopes, pith balls, charge detectors and other approved electrostatics teaching apparatus.
Users should confirm rod material, dimensions, compatible rubbing cloth, experiment method and classroom setup before ordering or use. Static charges can affect sensitive electronics. Keep charged rods away from electronic equipment, magnetic storage media and delicate measuring instruments. Glass rods should be handled carefully to avoid breakage, sharp edges and injury. Do not strike, bend or drop the rods during demonstrations.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the selected electrostatic rod only. Rubbing cloths, electroscopes, pith balls, charge plates, supports, worksheets, PPE and additional electrostatics accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Electrostatic Rods and physics teaching equipment for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical tools for static electricity and electrostatics demonstrations.
