Description
The Digital Electrometer, Very High Sensitivity, also known as a high impedance electrometer, is designed for measuring extremely small quantities of voltage, current and electric charge in physics teaching laboratories. This IEC digital electrometer is suitable for experiments where ordinary meters may not provide the required sensitivity, particularly in electrostatics and low-current demonstrations. The listed voltage ranges are 0 to 2 mV, 0 to 20 mV, 0 to 200 mV and 0 to 2000 mV, with very high impedance as listed.
The listed current ranges are 0 to 2 nA, 0 to 20 nA, 0 to 200 nA and 0 to 2000 nA, supporting demonstrations involving extremely small currents such as current passing through an insulator. The instrument also measures electric charge over the listed range of 0 to 2000 nC, making it useful for studying electrostatic charge, charge storage and capacitor behaviour. This electrometer can be used for measuring electrostatic charges, charge around an electrostatic rod, capacitor charging and measurements using compatible Aepinus capacitors and related electrostatic apparatus.
Users should confirm range selection, input connection, grounding method, capacitor compatibility, electrostatic source and experiment procedure before use. Very sensitive meters can be damaged by incorrect connection, excessive voltage, static discharge or unsuitable circuits. Do not connect this instrument to mains electricity, high-energy circuits or unknown electrical sources.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the digital electrometer only. Electrostatic rods, capacitors, Aepinus capacitors, connecting leads, power supply, charge plates, worksheets and additional physics accessories are not included unless specified separately.
