Description
The Simple PSSC Circular Motion Kit with Cord and Washers, also known as a centripetal force demonstration kit, is designed for practical physics teaching and classroom investigation of circular motion. This old PSSC style system is normally performed outdoors or in a suitable open area where the rotating cord and stopper can be used safely under supervision. The kit consists of a low-friction glass handle, a cord with weights listed as metal washers, a paper clip, rubber stopper, wood dowel and alligator clip. The apparatus supports demonstrations of centripetal force, helping students observe how a moving object requires an inward force to maintain circular motion.
It is useful for lessons covering circular motion, centripetal force, radius, speed, mass, tension and the relationship between rotational motion and applied force. Users should note that LC-80-MF0848-001 is referenced as a better system with far better accuracy, and may be preferred where more reliable measurement or improved classroom performance is required. This kit is suitable for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, university teaching laboratories and STEM education environments requiring a simple circular motion demonstration apparatus.
