Description
Polaroid Filter Pair with 90° Rotating Disc, also known as an adjustable polarising filter pair, is designed for optics teaching experiments where students investigate light polarisation and transmission through rotating filters. This apparatus includes a pair of Polaroid filters mounted inside a rotating scale. The assembly can be supported on a compatible optical bench, making it suitable for classroom demonstrations and structured physics practicals.
A pointer indicates the angular position around the circular graduated scale. The zero position identifies the point where the two filters are aligned and light transmission is at its maximum. As the filters are rotated on either side of zero, the change in angle can be measured in degrees. This allows students to observe how transmitted light intensity changes as the relative angle between the polarising filters changes. At 90°, the filters reduce transmitted light to zero, supporting clear demonstrations of crossed polarising filters and polarisation extinction.
The filter diameter at the centre is listed as 50 mm, providing a practical aperture size for compatible light sources and optical bench experiments. This product is suitable for teaching polarisation, light transmission, crossed filters, analyser and polariser behaviour, filter rotation effects and basic optics principles in school and university teaching laboratories.
Users should confirm optical bench compatibility, light source alignment, filter condition and classroom experiment method before use. Optical components should be handled carefully to avoid scratches, bending or surface damage. This item is supplied as the Polaroid filter pair in graduated rotating disc only. Optical bench, light source, screen, holders and any additional accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Polaroid Filter Pairs in Graduated Rotating Discs for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, university teaching spaces and optics education environments requiring practical apparatus for polarisation demonstrations.
