Description
The Convection in Air Apparatus with Chimneys, also known as a convection currents apparatus or air convection demonstration chamber, is designed for teaching how heat transfer occurs in gases. This STEM apparatus demonstrates convection by showing how air heated by a candle rises through one chimney while cooler air moves down through the other chimney to replace it. When a suitable smoke source is used, the moving air currents become visible, helping students observe convection flow patterns in a simple classroom demonstration.
The apparatus includes a metal box with acrylic front and two acrylic chimneys as listed. The air movement can be viewed against a dark backdrop during the demonstration. This product is useful for explaining real-world convection examples such as air-conditioning, smoke movement in building fires, ventilation and changing wind direction near the beach. Users should confirm the demonstration setup, smoke source, candle or heat source, ventilation, supervision level and classroom safety procedure before use.
The front panel can be accessed by sliding the front out, allowing the two acrylic chimneys to be reached as listed in the unpacking instruction. This demonstration involves heat, smoke and possible flame. Keep flammable materials, hair, loose clothing and paper away from the heat source during operation. Use only an approved smoke source and suitable heat source under teacher or laboratory supervision. Ensure adequate ventilation and follow institutional safety procedures.
Do not overheat the acrylic chimneys, expose acrylic parts to direct flame or use damaged components. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the selected convection in air apparatus with chimneys only. Candle, smoke source, matches, lighter, worksheets, PPE and additional heat transfer accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Convection in Air Apparatus and heat transfer teaching equipment for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical demonstrations of convection currents in gases.
