Description
Newton’s Cradle is a classic mechanics demonstrator used to show conservation of momentum and the transfer of kinetic energy through a line of colliding spheres. It consists of stainless steel balls suspended on synthetic polymer cords from a wooden base. When one ball is pulled back and released, it strikes the row and causes a corresponding ball to swing out on the opposite side. Releasing two balls produces two on the far side, illustrating the collision sequence in a clear, repeatable way for classroom discussion.
This apparatus is commonly used to support lessons on momentum conservation, energy transfer during collisions, and Newton’s third law in qualitative demonstrations. Dimensions are 120 × 110 × 150 mm, with 20 mm ball diameter.
FAQs
