Description
The Hodson Optical Bench and Lens Kit, also known as an educational optical bench system, is designed for teaching reflection, refraction, lenses and image formation in school physics laboratories, university teaching spaces and supervised science classrooms. The optical bench is 1.5 m long and includes an adjustable metric scale. This supports accurate positioning of lenses, targets, screens and other optical components during practical demonstrations and student experiments.
The kit includes convex and concave lenses for investigating focal length, magnification, real and virtual images, and basic lens behaviour. Sliding component supports help users position optical elements consistently along the bench.
Supplied accessories include targets, a white screen and various photographic slides, allowing a range of image formation and projection activities. These components support clear classroom demonstrations where students can observe how image position and size change with lens placement. The kit also includes a large prism and prism table for refraction and prism-based optics experiments. These accessories support demonstrations involving light direction, bending of light and related optical principles. Two package options are available. One kit includes the standard Hodson light box as the light source, while the alternative kit is supplied without the Hodson light box for users who already have a suitable light source or need a lower-price option.
