Description
The Adjustable Inclined Plane, also known as a laboratory inclined plane mechanics apparatus, is designed for classroom experiments involving friction, vectors, force components and motion on an inclined surface. It is suitable for school physics laboratories, university teaching laboratories and supervised educational mechanics demonstrations. The plane has a stated size of 100 × 500 mm, measured as width × length. This provides a practical classroom format for demonstrating how objects behave on an inclined surface under controlled experimental conditions.
The inclined plane is hinged to an aluminium base, which also serves as a storage container for kit parts. This supports organised classroom handling and helps keep compatible experiment components together when stored. The angle is fully adjustable up to 45 degrees. The angle scale is located on the adjustment bar, so when the unit is folded and locked flat for storage, there is no protruding scale to be easily broken or bent. A pulley is mounted at the top end of the inclined plane. This supports suitable string and load arrangements for demonstrations involving force balance, friction, applied force and the relationship between angle and motion. Surface options include a melamine coated timber plane and a glass surface version. These options allow selection according to the type of friction demonstration or teaching setup required.
Accessories are not normally supplied with the inclined plane unless listed separately. Compatible accessories such as a brass roller, nylon scale pan and aluminium rolling cart are available separately and should be selected according to the intended experiment.
