Description
Ripple Tank for Wave Experiments, without Power Supply, also known as a laboratory ripple tank apparatus, is designed for demonstrating wave motion, reflection, refraction, interference and related water-wave behaviour in physics teaching and science education environments. The ripple tank is made from transparent acrylic plastic and is supported in a sturdy plastic frame. The frame includes recesses for four legs with levelling feet, helping users position the tank more steadily during classroom or laboratory demonstrations. The tank edges are shaped to help minimise undesired reflections during wave experiments. A drain hole with rubber stopper is included to support easier water removal after use. The overall tank size is listed as 580 x 500 x 80 mm, with a window area of 370 x 280 mm and approximate tank height above bench level of 375 mm when the legs are attached.
The apparatus includes two light alloy uprights that carry a horizontal rippler support rod, which can be adjusted for height. The ripple assembly is elastically suspended from the support rod and includes a 4-6 V DC motor mounted on a wooden beam. The motor uses an eccentric weight to make the beam oscillate and generate ripples. Two-point sources are supplied using two plastic spheres, each mounted on a right-angle rod. A metal rod is fixed centrally into a socket on one short side of the frame to support the illuminant during demonstration. This ripple tank is supplied with experiment accessories including two straight aluminium alloy obstacles of 130 mm length, one straight obstacle of 40 mm length, one curved reflector with 200 mm radius, one trapezoidal plastic plate for refraction, one wooden hand wave roller, one water dropper, one packet of rubber bands and one foam plastic sponge. The supplied illuminant includes a 12 V, 24 W lamp mounted in a lamp house with a long supporting rod that can be attached to a retort stand. This product is supplied without power supply, so compatible electrical supply requirements should be confirmed before use.
LabChoice Australia supplies this Ripple Tank for schools, universities, physics classrooms and teaching laboratories requiring a practical wave experiment apparatus for observing ripple formation, wave reflection, refraction, interference and water-wave demonstration workflows.
