The Porcelain Streak Plates, also known as unglazed mineral testing tiles, are designed for mineral streak testing and mineral identification activities in geology laboratories, school science classrooms, university teaching laboratories and educational fieldwork kits.
Each plate is made from unglazed porcelain, providing a suitable surface for observing the streak colour produced when a compatible mineral specimen is rubbed across the tile. The streak test is commonly used in mineral identification because the streak colour can provide useful information that may differ from the mineral’s external surface colour.
