Description

The General Purpose Switched AC/DC Power Supplies, also known as low-voltage classroom power supplies, are designed for school science laboratories, physics classrooms and teaching laboratories requiring selectable AC and DC outputs. These power supplies provide switched voltage outputs at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 V in both AC and DC. The DC output is full-wave rectified but not filtered, making the units suitable for many classroom demonstrations where unfiltered rectified DC is acceptable.

The 5 to 6 A models provide a compact general purpose format for routine low-voltage activities such as lamp circuits, motor demonstrations, electromagnet experiments, resistance investigations and basic electricity studies. The 8 to 10 A models provide a higher current option for compatible classroom loads requiring more output capacity while still retaining a compact general purpose design. The 15 A model is a larger power supply option for applications requiring a much higher current output. It includes a lever-operated circuit breaker with manual reset, which can also be used as an output on/off switch during operation.

The illuminated mains switch is located on the front panel for clear operation visibility. Selected 5 A and 10 A versions include automatically resetting overload protection, while LED O/L versions include a red LED indicator to show when the overload condition has been triggered. The 5 A housing includes carry handles and rubber feet, supporting practical bench placement, movement and routine classroom use. These power supplies are suitable for physics experiments, current and voltage investigations, circuit construction, low-voltage motors, lamps, electromagnets and other compatible school laboratory activities.

Users should confirm the required voltage setting, AC or DC output mode, current rating and load suitability before operation.
