Description
The Tuning Forks on Resonance Boxes, Pair, 2 × 426.6 Hz, also known as a resonance box tuning fork pair, are designed for practical demonstrations of sympathetic resonance, beats and sound wave behaviour. This set includes a pair of steel tuning forks mounted on individual resonance boxes. Each fork has a nominal frequency listed as 426.6 Hz. One tuning fork is provided with an adjustable mass, allowing its frequency to be shifted from the nominal value. When both forks are sounded together, the slight frequency difference produces a clearly audible beat effect.
The beat rate depends on the difference in frequency between the two tuning forks, making the set useful for helping students understand interference, frequency difference and sound wave superposition. The resonance boxes help reinforce and amplify the sound produced by the tuning forks, making the demonstration clearer in a classroom or laboratory setting. This apparatus is suitable for school physics laboratories, university teaching laboratories, STEM classrooms and general educational environments requiring practical sound and vibration demonstration equipment.
Users should confirm the demonstration method, striking method and adjustment procedure before use. The tuning forks should be struck gently with a suitable striker and should not be hit against hard or damaging surfaces. Care should be taken when adjusting the movable mass. Ensure all parts are secure before demonstration and avoid overtightening or forcing the adjustment mechanism.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervision. This item is supplied as the pair of tuning forks on resonance boxes only. Striker, additional tuning forks, sound sensors, frequency meters and other demonstration accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Tuning Forks on Resonance Boxes for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, university teaching laboratories and STEM education environments requiring practical apparatus for resonance, beats and sound wave demonstrations.
