The Simple Wheel and Axle Pulley Set, also known as a wheel and axle mechanical ratio apparatus, is designed for studying pulley behaviour, rotational motion and mechanical advantage in school physics laboratories, university teaching laboratories and supervised mechanics demonstrations. The apparatus consists of two pulleys fixed together as one unit. The pulley diameters are 150 mm and 75 mm, allowing students to compare how different radii affect effort, load and turning behaviour.
Both pulleys are made from very strong 5-ply timber and are sealed against moisture. This construction provides a practical classroom format for repeated educational use in mechanics experiments. A central bearing allows the pulley set to rotate freely on a strong 10 mm diameter rod.
