Description

The Density Cube Sets, 2.0 cm and 2.5 cm, in Case, also known as classroom density cube sets, are designed for physics, materials science and general science teaching activities. These cube sets help students investigate the relationship between mass, volume and density by comparing cubes made from different materials. The consistent cube shape allows students to calculate volume from the edge length and then compare measured mass across different materials.

The 2.0 cm set of 9 cubes is supplied in a case and includes aluminium, copper, brass, steel, cork, lead, zinc, plastic and hardwood. This set is suitable for routine density demonstrations, buoyancy activities and material comparison experiments.

The 2.5 cm set of 12 cubes is supplied in a case and includes lignum vitae, polypropylene, aluminium, oak, steel, nylon, brass, copper, pine, poplar, acrylic and PVC. This larger set provides a wider material range across metals, plastics and woods.

For the 2.5 cm set, the listed density reference values include lignum vitae 1.28 to 1.37, polypropylene 0.85 to 0.95, aluminium 2.7, oak 0.60 to 0.90, steel 7.6, nylon 1.13, brass 8.0, copper 8.9, pine 0.35 to 0.60, poplar 0.35 to 0.50, acrylic 1.16 to 1.19 and PVC 1.39 to 1.42. The following cubes in the 2.5 cm set are marked or stamped: Al, Fe, Br and Cu, supporting easier material identification during classroom activities. These sets are useful for lessons covering density, buoyancy, floating and sinking, physical properties, mass measurement, volume calculation, metals, plastics, woods and material identification. Students can use a compatible balance to measure each cube’s mass and compare calculated density values according to the approved experiment method.

Lead cubes should be handled carefully. Users should avoid placing lead items in the mouth, wash hands after handling and follow the laboratory’s approved hygiene and storage procedure. This product range is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervision. This item is supplied as the selected density cube set in case only. Balance, measuring cylinder, displacement vessel, water container, worksheets, gloves and additional density accessories are not included unless specified separately.

LabChoice Australia supplies Density Cube Sets for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, university teaching laboratories and STEM education environments requiring practical materials for density, buoyancy and material property experiments.
