Description
The Air Track Accessory Kits, also known as air track dynamics experiment accessory sets, are designed to support motion, collision, velocity and acceleration studies using compatible laboratory air track systems. They are suitable for school physics laboratories, university teaching laboratories and supervised mechanics demonstrations. This accessory range supports compatible 2.0 m and 2.5 m air tracks. Available kit types include spark recording measuring kits, air tube assembly parts, full operation experiment parts and a two photogate measuring kit. The spark recording kits are available for 2.0 m and 2.5 m air tracks. Each kit includes a pair of special insulated tracks carrying the spark electrodes and a pair of insulated tracks carrying the paper tapes. The spark generator is not included and must be selected separately where required.
The spark recording system uses pens fitted to the gliders to transfer sparks from the electrodes to the paper tape without contact. This helps preserve low-friction air track operation while producing black dots on the tape for pitch measurement. The dot spacing can then be used to calculate velocity and acceleration during motion experiments. The air tube assembly kit is supplied separately and is suitable for both 2.0 m and 2.5 m air tracks. It contains sets of feet, level adjusting screws, end caps, O-ring seals, tube screws, metric tape for the track length and the end plug used to block the air.
The operation kit contains the main parts required for performing air track experiments. It includes 2 long gliders, 2 short gliders, spring buffers, non-spring buffers, various springs, track pulley, loop springs, magnets, weights, inclination blocks and instructions.
The photogate kit includes two universal photogates with the cables and plugs required for connection to a compatible digital timer. The timer is not included. The gates are supplied with special mounting legs that engage with the outer corners of a standard triangular air track, allowing the gates to slide along the track to selected positions. These accessories are intended for supervised laboratory and educational use. Spark recording work requires suitable high-voltage safety procedures when used with a compatible spark generator, and photogate experiments require a compatible timer selected separately.
