Description

The Air Track Systems, also known as low friction linear motion air track apparatus, are designed for physics experiments involving motion, velocity, acceleration, collisions and dynamics. They are suitable for school physics laboratories, university teaching laboratories and supervised mechanics demonstrations. This range includes 2.0 m and 2.5 m air track options supplied as air tube only versions, sub base kits or complete air track systems. The air tube only versions are drilled and anodised and are supplied with assembly kits, including referenced end caps, feet and end seals. A basic air track setup is described as an air tube with assembly kit plus an operational kit of parts for experiments. Where the air tube only option is selected, the operational kit should be selected separately if experiment parts are required.

The complete air track options are supplied with both the assembly kit and operational kit. These complete systems support classroom experiment setup for linear motion, collision studies and low friction dynamics demonstrations using the compatible included experiment parts. Sub base kits are available for both 2.0 m and 2.5 m tracks. The sub base mounts below the air tube and uses adjustable screw sets to help pull the tube as straight as possible for improved performance. When a sub base is used, the feet are removed from the tube and fitted to the sub base instead.

The 2.5 m sub base kit includes 12 stud straightening screws, while the 2.0 m sub base kit includes 10 stud straightening screws. The supplied details state that sub bases are often used to improve straightness of 2.5 m or longer air tracks, while the 2.0 m air track is normally used without a sub base unless additional straightness adjustment is desired. Optional accessories referenced for the system include air blower and hose, photogate measuring kit, electronic timer for running photogates and spark recording systems with spark generator and cables. These accessories should be selected separately according to the intended experiment configuration.

LabChoice Australia supplies Air Track Systems for school physics departments, university teaching laboratories and educational mechanics workspaces. They are suitable for supervised experiments involving low friction motion, collisions, velocity, acceleration, photogate timing and spark recording studies using compatible accessories and safe classroom procedures.
