Description

The IEC compact direct-vision spectroscope is a practical instrument for observing spectra and estimating light wavelength using a calibrated nanometre scale. Light enters the black chamber through an adjustable slit, allowing control of brightness and band definition during viewing. The eyepiece contains a 600 line/mm grating that separates incoming light into its component colours or wavelengths for clear spectrum observation.
The spectrum appears displaced to the right-hand side and is viewed against a scale calibrated in nanometres (nm). Each digit on the scale represents 100 nm, supporting quick wavelength estimation in classroom and lab spectroscopy activities.
