Description
The Mass of Electron Power Supply with Digital Meter, also known as a special purpose electron experiment power supply, is designed for use with the Mass of Electron experiment, LC-80-AP2120-001. This IEC power supply is powered by 220/240 V mains and provides the required outputs for the Magic Eye tube and air-cored solenoid used in the experiment.
The fixed high voltage output is listed as 250 V DC at about 1 mA. This output is used for the anode connection of the Magic Eye tube. The fixed heater output is listed as 12 V AC at about 1 A. This output is used to power the heater of the Magic Eye tube during the experiment. The unit also provides an adjustable and regulated current output from 0.1 to 2 A, up to 25 V maximum. This regulated current output is used to control the current, and therefore the magnetic field, in the air-cored solenoid, LC-80-EM0090-001.
A large digital meter is included for monitoring during setup and operation. A selector switch allows the meter to monitor either the regulated current or the output voltage, depending on the experiment requirement. This power supply is suitable for supervised physics teaching involving electron beam behaviour, magnetic deflection, charge-to-mass ratio principles and Mass of Electron demonstrations using compatible apparatus. Users should confirm compatibility with the Magic Eye tube, air-cored solenoid, experiment apparatus, lead connections and required operating method before use.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only. As the unit is mains-powered and provides high voltage output, it must be used only under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervisor control with approved electrical safety procedures. This item is supplied as the Mass of Electron power supply only. Magic Eye tube, air-cored solenoid, experiment frame, leads, meters and additional accessories are not included unless specified separately.
