The Glass Cartesian Diver, 100 mm, also known as a Cartesian devil, is a classic science demonstration device used to show buoyancy, pressure change and the behaviour of trapped air in water. When used in a suitable water-filled vessel, the diver can rise, sink or remain suspended depending on pressure changes applied to the system. This makes it a practical visual tool for explaining Archimedes’ principle and the relationship between displaced fluid, density and buoyant force.
