Description
The Magnesium Ribbon Reel , also known as laboratory magnesium strip or magnesium ribbon, is designed for approved chemistry demonstrations involving metal combustion, oxidation and reactivity. This reel is supplied as a 25 g roll, with an approximate length of 14.5 m. The ribbon is listed as 3 mm wide and 0.25 mm thick. The composition is listed as 99% magnesium with 1% zinc and lead. Users should follow suitable laboratory hygiene, handling and disposal procedures, especially because lead is listed in the composition. When ignited, magnesium ribbon produces a very bright reaction and releases substantial heat energy, forming white magnesium oxide, also known as magnesia.
Magnesium ribbon may be ignited using an approved flame source such as a Bunsen burner or suitable lighter under controlled laboratory conditions. Once ignition begins, the ribbon can burn steadily along its length and may be difficult to extinguish. The flame is extremely intense and should not be viewed directly for more than a brief moment. UV-blocking safety goggles, laboratory coat, gloves and suitable supervision should be used during demonstrations. This product is useful for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and controlled chemistry demonstrations involving oxidation, combustion, exothermic reactions and metal reactivity.
Users should confirm the approved experiment method, sample length, ignition source, ventilation, fire control procedure and local safety requirements before use. Do not use excessive quantities, hold burning ribbon by hand, burn near flammable materials or perform demonstrations without an approved heat-resistant surface and safety controls.

Burner, lighter, crucible, tongs, heat mat, UV-blocking goggles, PPE, fire control materials and additional accessories are not included unless specified separately.
