Description
The Electric Clinostat on Stand, also known as an IEC clinostat or plant growth rotation apparatus, is designed for studying the growth behaviour of small plants, seeds and shoots under slow rotation. The apparatus uses a rugged motor rotating at 4 turns per hour, turning a sponge platform with a transparent cover. Seeds, shoots or small plant specimens can be pinned to the sponge for observation during growth studies. The slow rotation helps ensure that light exposure is more evenly distributed and that gravity does not cause all the plants or shoots to sag in one direction during the experiment.
The transparent cover can be removed when required for light spraying or adding a small amount of water to support plant growth during supervised practical work. This clinostat is useful for biology, botany and plant physiology lessons involving tropism, geotropism, phototropism, plant growth direction and controlled observation of seedlings. Users should confirm plant type, seed/shoot size, watering method, rotation duration, lighting arrangement and classroom experiment procedure before use.
This is a mains-powered electrical apparatus. Keep water spray away from the motor, plug, socket and electrical components. Disconnect from power before adjusting specimens, removing the cover or cleaning. Do not overload the sponge platform, force the rotating section, operate with damaged cable or use the unit in wet areas. Any damaged mains cable, plug, housing or motor should be removed from service and checked by a qualified person.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the selected electric clinostat on stand only. Seeds, plant specimens, pins, spray bottle, growth media, lighting system, worksheets, PPE and additional biology accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Electric Clinostats and biology teaching apparatus for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical equipment for plant growth and tropism demonstrations.
