IEC bonded compound bars made from two metals with different thermal expansion so the bar curves when heated to demonstrate differential expansion. The two metals are different colours, copper colour and silver colour, making the two metal layers clearly visible. Modern bonded construction is permanently bonded without rivets, with options in 100 mm or 150 mm length and handle or plain formats.
