Description
The 3 × 90° Corner Mirror, 120 mm Sides, also known as a corner cube mirror or retroreflector mirror, is designed for optics demonstrations involving reflection and ray behaviour. The IEC corner mirror has 3 front surfaced mirrors mounted inside a plastic moulded housing, with the three faces arranged mutually at 90°. This type of mirror reflects an incident light ray back towards the source over a range of angles, making it useful for demonstrating retroreflection in a clear classroom setup. Miniature versions of this optical principle are used in road reflectors and roadside posts, where light from vehicle headlights is reflected back towards the vehicle even when the reflector is illuminated from an angle.
The front surfaced mirror design helps reduce secondary reflection effects compared with ordinary back-surfaced mirrors, supporting clearer ray tracing and optical demonstrations. This apparatus is suitable for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and physics classrooms studying light, reflection, ray optics and practical applications of retroreflectors.
