Description
The Solar Furnace, 305 mm, for Heating Materials Using the Sun, also known as a parabolic solar furnace demonstration apparatus, is designed for science, physics and renewable energy education. This apparatus demonstrates the extraordinary power of the sun by concentrating solar energy with a 12″ diameter parabolic dish. Using its reflective mirror, the solar furnace focuses sunlight to generate high temperatures for heating compatible materials placed in the attached copper receptacle. The 305 mm parabolic dish format provides a practical visual demonstration of how solar radiation can be collected, reflected and concentrated into a smaller heating zone.
This product is useful for lessons covering solar energy, heat transfer, radiation, reflection, energy concentration, renewable energy and thermal effects on materials. A teacher’s guide with 6 experiments is included, supporting structured classroom demonstrations and supervised student activities. Users should operate the solar furnace only according to the approved teaching method, using suitable PPE, heat-resistant handling tools and a safe outdoor or direct-sunlight setup.
The focused sunlight and heated copper receptacle can cause burns, fire risk and eye hazard. Do not look into concentrated reflected sunlight, do not aim the reflector at people and keep flammable materials away from the focal area. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervision. This item is supplied as the Solar Furnace with attached copper receptacle and teacher’s guide only. Test materials, safety glasses, gloves, thermometers, stands, worksheets and additional solar energy accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Solar Furnaces for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, STEM education programs and university teaching environments requiring practical apparatus for solar energy, heat transfer and renewable energy demonstrations.
