Description
The Wine and Beer Hydrometer, 230 mm, also known as a home brew specific gravity hydrometer, is designed for measuring the specific gravity of compatible wine and beer samples. This hydrometer is used to monitor fermentation by showing changes in liquid density as sugars are converted during the brewing or wine-making process. The instrument is listed as 230 mm long and is adjusted at 20°C. Readings should be taken with consideration of sample temperature, as temperature variation can affect specific gravity results.
The zoned scale supports easy interpretation during home brew testing and helps users follow fermentation progress over time. By comparing readings before and after fermentation, users can estimate alcohol development and confirm whether fermentation is progressing as expected. This hydrometer is suitable for wine making, beer making, home brew testing, food science demonstrations and general education activities involving liquid density and fermentation observation.
Users should place the hydrometer in a suitable measuring cylinder containing enough sample to allow the instrument to float freely without touching the sides or bottom. The hydrometer should be cleaned before and after use according to the approved method. It should be handled carefully, as glass hydrometers are fragile and may break if dropped or forced into narrow vessels. This item is supplied as the wine and beer hydrometer only. Measuring cylinder, thermometer, sample jar, cleaning solution, brewing equipment and additional accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Wine and Beer Hydrometers for home brew testing, food science teaching, fermentation demonstrations, school science laboratories and general education environments requiring practical specific gravity measurement equipment.
