Description
The Fire Syringe Kit, also known as a fire piston or compression heating demonstration apparatus, is designed for classroom demonstrations involving gases, temperature rise and thermodynamic energy transfer. When the plunger is pushed rapidly, air inside the syringe is compressed into a smaller volume. This rapid work done on the gas causes the air temperature to rise sharply. This demonstration is commonly used in gas law and thermodynamics lessons to show how gas behaviour changes during compression, and how mechanical work can be converted into thermal energy.
Although often supplied for Charles’s Law or gas law demonstrations, the fire syringe most directly demonstrates rapid compression heating. It can also support wider discussion of gas volume, pressure and temperature relationships. The apparatus is suitable for supervised physics, chemistry and general science practicals where students need a clear visual example of energy transfer in gases. Users should confirm the full kit contents, ignition material, operating instructions, cylinder condition and classroom risk assessment before use.
Fire syringe demonstrations may generate heat, smoke or ignition depending on the material used. Use only approved demonstration material and follow institutional safety procedures. Do not use excessive force, damaged components, unsuitable flammable materials or improvised parts. Keep face, hands, hair, loose clothing and combustible materials clear during operation. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the selected fire syringe kit only. Replacement ignition material, worksheets, thermometers, PPE, storage case and additional gas law accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Fire Syringe Kits and thermodynamics teaching apparatus for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical demonstrations of compression heating and gas behaviour.
