Description
The Extra High Voltage Power Supply, 0 to 6000 V DC / 3 mA, also known as an EHV laboratory power supply, is designed for specialised physics and electronics teaching demonstrations requiring controlled extra high voltage output. This IEC extra high voltage power supply is listed with a 3000 / 0 / 3000 V DC output arrangement, supporting a maximum output range of 0 to 6000 V DC. The maximum current is limited to 3 mA.
The unit is designed with intentionally poor regulation. As current is drawn from the supply, the voltage falls quickly, which is useful for selected educational high voltage demonstrations and helps limit current during fault conditions. Upon a short circuit, the current is limited to 3 mA. This current limiting supports safer classroom demonstration conditions, but the unit still produces extra high voltage and must be treated as hazardous equipment. Low voltage output is provided as 2 × 6.3 V AC at 4 A. These outputs are normally used for running heaters of compatible electron tubes during physics and electronics experiments.
The supply is suitable for running spectrum tubes, Teltron tubes, charging Aepinus capacitors and other approved high voltage teaching applications where the listed output characteristics are appropriate. A digital meter is included for output monitoring, supporting clearer observation of the selected high voltage during supervised laboratory use. Users should confirm the required output arrangement, tube compatibility, heater requirement, capacitor rating, connection method and experiment procedure before operation. Only suitable insulated leads and approved high voltage apparatus should be used.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only. It must be operated only under appropriate teacher or laboratory supervisor control, with approved high voltage safety procedures in place. This item is supplied as the extra high voltage power supply only. Spectrum tubes, Teltron tubes, Aepinus capacitors, high voltage leads, holders, electrodes and additional accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Extra High Voltage Power Supplies for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, university teaching laboratories and electronics education environments requiring specialised high voltage apparatus for supervised demonstrations.
