Description
The Adjustable Constant Current DC Power Supply, 0 to 2 A / 12 V, also known as a variable constant current laboratory power supply, is designed for experiments where a preset current must be maintained through a connected load. This type of power supply is useful when the resistance of the load may change during an experiment. As the load resistance changes, the output voltage automatically adjusts to help maintain the selected current within the rated capability of the unit.
The output current range is listed as 0 to 2 A, with a maximum output voltage of 12 V DC. This makes the unit suitable for low-voltage controlled-current experiments in physics and electrochemistry teaching laboratories. A common classroom example is a solenoid coil experiment. As current passes through the coil, the wire may heat and its resistance may rise with temperature.
