Description
The High Pressure Boyle’s Law Apparatus with Air Pump, also known as a non-mercury Boyle’s Law demonstration apparatus, is designed for studying the relationship between gas pressure and volume at higher pressures. It is suitable for school science laboratories, physics classrooms, chemistry classrooms, university teaching laboratories and supervised educational demonstrations. This apparatus performs a similar Boyle’s Law experiment to lower-pressure systems, but it is designed for use at higher pressures. The setup allows students to observe how the volume of trapped air changes as pressure is increased. Mercury is not used in this apparatus. A small high-pressure container contains a coloured fluid, supporting a safer classroom demonstration format compared with traditional mercury-based systems.
Pressure is increased using the supplied small air pump. As pressure rises in the container, the pressure is read from the gauge and the coloured fluid is pushed up the heavy-walled glass tube. As the fluid rises, the air volume in the glass tube is reduced. This visible change helps students connect the practical movement of the fluid column with the pressure-volume relationship described by Boyle’s Law. An adjustable pointer can be clamped at any point along the scale to indicate the starting volume. Students can then compare pressure and volume readings and perform calculations to demonstrate the inverse relationship between pressure and volume. The kit is supplied complete with air pump and coloured fluid. Users should handle the apparatus carefully, avoid over-pressurising the system and follow the supplied experiment instructions and school laboratory safety procedures.
LabChoice Australia supplies High Pressure Boyle’s Law Apparatus with Air Pump for school physics departments, chemistry classrooms, university teaching laboratories and educational gas law demonstrations. It is suitable for supervised experiments covering Boyle’s Law, pressure-volume relationships, gas compression and practical calculation of pressure and volume changes.
