Description

The IEC digital colorimeter is a student-focused instrument for measuring chemical solution concentration using optical measurements in transmission or absorbance (absorption) mode. The LCD display shows the selected reading type, supporting routine classroom practicals and laboratory exercises where relative concentration comparisons are required.

Automatic zeroing and internal calculations are performed by the built-in microprocessor, helping produce consistent results between student groups and repeated runs. The instrument includes an internal light source with selectable colours, red, yellow, green, or blue, allowing basic wavelength selection for common colorimetric methods.

Designed for portability, the unit operates from a 9 V battery and provides a low-battery indication. For bench use, it can also run from a standard 240 V to 12 V AC plug pack if the battery is depleted. Supplied as a complete kit with 6 cuvettes and 4 sample test tubes. For data capture and integration, the colorimeter provides a selectable analogue output of 0–4 V or 0–5 V for connection to logging software.
