Description
The Potassium Iodide Starch Test Paper, also known as KI starch paper or iodine, chlorine and peroxide indicator paper, is designed for detecting oxidising agents such as free iodine, chlorine and peroxides in compatible solution samples. This test paper is supplied as 100 strips and is suitable for classroom demonstrations, routine laboratory checks and educational chemistry activities where a simple colour reaction is required. Lower levels are listed as reacting with the strip at approximately 5–10 ppm. Chlorine and peroxides react immediately, while iodine requires approximately 60 seconds to develop a visible reaction.
The colour response begins as a slight blue colour at lower levels. Higher concentrations can turn the strip from dark blue to purple, depending on the concentration and test conditions. The listed upper limits are 400–450 ppm for chlorine and peroxides and 50–100 ppm for iodine, making this test paper suitable for approximate screening rather than calibrated quantitative analysis. To use, remove one strip from the vial while avoiding unnecessary contact with the paper, dip the strip into the solution for 1–2 seconds, remove it, shake off excess liquid and observe the colour reaction within the required time.
Users should confirm sample type, colour chart availability, reaction time, storage condition, expiry status and accuracy requirement before use. This product is intended for approximate indication only. It should not be used where certified analytical testing, regulatory compliance testing or calibrated instrumental measurement is required. Handle iodine, chlorine, peroxide solutions and unknown samples using approved PPE, ventilation, chemical handling and disposal procedures.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as Potassium Iodide Starch Test Paper, pack of 100 strips only. Sample containers, pipettes, colour chart replacements, PPE, worksheets and additional chemical testing accessories are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Potassium Iodide Starch Test Paper and laboratory indicator papers for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories, chemistry classrooms and general laboratory environments requiring practical strips for iodine, chlorine and peroxide detection.
