Description
Phenolphthalein Test Paper, also known as phenolphthalein indicator paper, provides a simple visual method for detecting the presence of ammonia under suitable test conditions. The paper changes to a pinkish colour when ammonia is detected, allowing rapid qualitative assessment without complex instrumentation. The strips are sensitive to ammonia vapours and can therefore be used when investigating potential ammonia leaks, including around refrigeration or air-conditioning systems where ammonia may be present. A strip is held close to the suspected leak area and observed for a colour change.
For liquid testing, the phenolphthalein paper is specified to detect ammonia in solution at approximately 3 to 5 ppm. The solution being tested must be water-based, as the stated detection method is intended for aqueous samples. To use the paper, remove one strip from the vial while handling only the end of the strip where possible. Position it near the suspected ammonia source or use it with the appropriate water-based sample. A developing pinkish colour indicates the presence of ammonia under the test conditions.
The pack contains 100 phenolphthalein test strips, providing a convenient supply for repeated testing, demonstrations and routine screening. The compact format is suitable for laboratory, educational and general technical environments where a rapid visual ammonia indication is required.
LabChoice Australia supplies Phenolphthalein Test Paper, 100 Strips for ammonia detection, chemistry education, laboratory testing and general screening applications requiring a straightforward colour-change indication.
