Description

The Motorised Mini Stroboscope, also known as a motor-driven classroom stroboscope, is designed for teaching stroboscopy, apparent motion and periodic movement in physics laboratories, school science classrooms and supervised educational motion experiments.

Unlike hand-driven stroboscope discs, the motorised design includes built-in speed control. This helps maintain a more consistent rotation speed during demonstrations, making it easier for students to observe stationary, slow-moving or reverse apparent motion effects. The unit is supplied with a set of three slotted discs, including 4, 8 and 12 slot discs. These discs allow teachers to demonstrate how the number of slots and the disc rotation speed influence the visual sampling of moving objects. A blank disc is also supplied, allowing teachers or students to create their own disc pattern in the classroom. This supports practical investigation work and helps students explore how different slit patterns affect stroboscopic observation.

The motorised stroboscope can be supported on a retort stand with a bosshead, providing stable positioning during bench demonstrations. This is useful when observing rotating objects, vibrating systems or moving classroom apparatus. The unit runs from either AC or DC power up to 12 V maximum. It should be connected only to a suitable low-voltage power supply and operated within the stated voltage limit. This instrument should be used under appropriate supervision. Users should keep fingers, loose clothing, leads and nearby objects clear of the rotating disc, and should avoid unsafe positioning near moving apparatus.

LabChoice Australia supplies Motorised Mini Stroboscopes for school physics departments, university teaching laboratories and educational motion study workspaces. They are suitable for supervised demonstrations of stroboscopy, apparent motion, rotational speed, vibration, periodic movement and frequency-related visual effects.
