Description

The IEC tensile testing machine is a classroom-ready apparatus for measuring tensile behaviour of metal wires using manageable forces. Wire specimens are used so the required loads are small and can be applied using standard slotted weights. Extension is measured with an accurate dial indicator with 0.01 mm resolution, allowing clear stretch readings during loading.
The machine includes three anchor points so wires can be tested at three different effective lengths, supporting comparison of extension versus length under similar loading conditions. It is supplied with rolls of copper wire (0.37 mm diameter), brass wire (0.32 mm diameter), and iron wire (0.28 mm diameter). Slotted weight sets such as 9 × 50 g and or 9 × 100 g are not supplied with the machine.

FAQs
Q: What does this tensile testing machine measure?
A: Tensile stretch (extension) of metal wires under applied load, using a dial indicator.
Q: How is extension measured?
A: With a dial indicator reading in 0.01 mm increments.
Q: How is tensile force applied?
A: Using normal slotted weights, suitable for classroom-sized forces.
Q: Why are there three anchor points?
A: To test wires at three different effective lengths.
Q: What wires are supplied?
A: Copper 0.37 mm, brass 0.32 mm, iron 0.28 mm wire rolls.
Q: Are slotted weight sets included?
A: No, 9 × 50 g and or 9 × 100 g slotted weight sets are not supplied.
