Description

The air-cored solenoid is wound on a strong moulded plastic bobbin and is designed for experiments requiring a magnetic field of known strength. It can be mounted over a “magic eye” tube for the mass of electron experiment, and it is also used in setups such as the IEC current balance apparatus and for calibrating the IEC hall effect apparatus.
The coil contains 700 turns of copper wire and is rated to carry about 5 A maximum current. Dimensions are 150 mm long with a 37 mm bore. The winding terminates at 4 mm socket head terminals that point inward, allowing the ends of the solenoid to sit flat on a bench during use.
