Description
Compact Adjustable Vacuum Pump for Laboratory Filtration, also known as a mini laboratory vacuum and pressure pump, is designed for light-duty vacuum filtration, air transfer, sample preparation and general laboratory suction applications. With an adjustable front control knob, the pump allows users to regulate airflow according to the required filtration speed, making it suitable for small-scale laboratory, educational and routine testing environments.
This compact pump operates on AC 110 V to 240 V, 50/60 Hz power input and uses only 12 W of power, offering an efficient solution for benchtop laboratory use. It provides a no-load flow rate of ≥5 L/min, a maximum vacuum of ≥58 kPa, and a maximum pressure of ≥100 kPa, supporting both vacuum and pressure operation when used separately. The low-noise design, rated at ≤60 dB, helps maintain a more comfortable working environment during routine lab procedures.
For laboratory filtration work, this pump can be used with suitable filtration assemblies such as filter flasks, Buchner funnels, membrane filtration holders and vacuum-compatible tubing. It is suitable for applications where controlled suction is required to assist liquid filtration through filter paper, membranes or other compatible filtration media. The pump itself must not be used to pump liquid directly. A trap bottle, buffer bottle or moisture protection vessel should always be placed between the filtration setup and the pump to prevent liquid, vapour or particulate matter from entering the pump body.
The adjustable speed control makes the pump practical for different filtration conditions, including delicate sample handling where excessive suction may disturb the filter medium or cause splashing. Users can increase or reduce pump output by turning the control knob, giving better control over vacuum-assisted filtration and air movement. This is especially useful in educational laboratories, small research labs, quality control areas and general scientific workspaces where compact equipment is preferred.
The package includes the pump, multiple silicone tubes with different inner diameters, plastic connector adapters and a power adapter, allowing flexible connection to different small laboratory setups. The included tubing sizes and connector options help users adapt the pump to common vacuum and pressure lines used in laboratory filtration and light suction workflows.
For safe operation, the vacuum and pressure functions should not be used at the same time. The pump should only be used for air or gas handling and must not be connected directly to liquids. When working with moisture, corrosive vapours or chemically aggressive gases, a suitable protective trap should be used to reduce the risk of internal pump damage. If abnormal heat, loud noise, smoke or unstable operation is noticed, the pump should be stopped immediately and disconnected from the power supply.
LabChoice Australia supplies this compact adjustable vacuum pump for laboratory and educational use where a small, economical and easy-to-control vacuum source is required. It is a practical option for routine vacuum filtration, demonstration work, sample preparation and general low-volume laboratory suction tasks.
